INAUGURATION OF HASNATH-E-JARIA GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

On 8th July 1964 a grand function was held to inaugurate Hasnath-e-Jaria Girls’ High School in its renovated building presided over by Janab S.M. Abdul Majeed sahib, Hon’ble Minister for Local Administration, Government of Tamil Nadu. Prof. Humayun Kabir, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum and Chemicals, Government of India inaugurated it.   Justice Basheer Ahmed Sayeed sahib was one of the dignitaries present on the occasion.

The retired Headmistress of Govt. Hobbart Girls’ High School, Madras Mrs. Khamrunnissa was appointed Headmistress of the School. It was very difficult for the Management to secure qualified Urdu medium teachers in secondary and B.T. categories even through Employment Exchanges.  Hence, untrained teachers from Madras and Bangalore were appointed.  It took more than 2 years for the department to approve the salaries and the management  had to bear it.

The performance of the school encouraged parents to send their wards to the school resulting in its ever increasing strength year after year.  Mrs. S. Abida Begum was appointed Headmistress of the School in the year 1967.

In order to encourage more and more girls to join the school Janab K. Khaleelur Rahman Sahib, the General Secretary made the education free from VI to XI standard from 1968 onwards.

During the year 1972 due to lack of space and play ground the Girls High School was shifted to the premises housing Elementary Girls’ School adjacent to Chowk Masjid and the Elementary Girls’ School shifted to its original premises at the Vavoor Madar Sahib Street.

In 1978 the Management under the General Secretary-ship of Janab N. Mohamed Sayeed Sahib upgraded the School to a Higher Secondary School with two groups viz., a Science Group and a Vocational group of Dress Designing and Making with Home Science as related subjects as per the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Government.

Mrs. S. Abidunnisa Begum, the Headmistress retired in the year 1999 after serving the school for along period of 32 years with sincerity and hard work contributing the growth of the school and to the satisfaction of the Management.  Mrs. A. Sageerunnisa, a senior teacher, was made the Headmistress-in charge and she holds this position till now.

The General Secretary encouraged by the continuing strength of the school, ever increasing demand for admissions and steady results introduced English Medium Section in 6th Standard during the year 1999-2000 particularly for the benefit of those who could not afford to meet the exorbitant fee charged in Matriculation Schools.  This was very much appreciated and welcomed by the students and parents alike.  This move necessitated in putting up class rooms in the first floor of the old building.

In the same year two additional Science and Commerce groups 1. Mathematics, Science and Computer Science and 2. History, Economics and Accountancy were introduced for Higher Secondary students in addition to the already existing vocational groups.

The President Janab N. M. Zackriah Sahib constructed a two storey building NMZ-SAFIYAMA BLOCK – named after his wife – to accommodate 6 class rooms during the year 2001-02.

In the year 2003-2004 another 2 storey building, comprising 11 class rooms and a modern computer lab, was constructed at a cost of about Rs. 15 lakh with the efforts and contributions of the General Secretary, Janab N. Mohamed Sayeed Sahib, other members of the Management.

In the year 2006 yet another 2 storey building at a cost of about Rs. 20 lakhs came into existence to house Biology, Chemistry and Physics Labs and additional 8 class rooms.

Hasnath-e-Jaria Primary Aided School continued to grow in developing good education and attracting more and more girls and necessitating additional buildings.  NMY Zubaida Block, named after Zubaida Begum wife of Jaban N. M. Yahya Sahib, was constructed at a cost of about Rs. 4.50 lakhs by the General Secretary Janab. N Mohammed Sayeed Sahib, whereas ASMA Block was constructed at a cost of about Rs. 4.40 lakhs with contributions from Janab Medakar Kaleemullah Sahib and Ambur Student Muslim Association (ASMA).  These two blocks consists of 8 class rooms and a prayer hall.
