PERIOD OF CRISIS

Between 1935 and 1940 the Management had an uphill task.  The Secretary with firm belief in the Almighty and with the moral support of his esteemed friends continued to steer the school in these turbulent days.  At times the school’s very survival appeared to be a stake.  In these critical days Janab Jalal Mohamed Ibrahim sahib and Janab Peshimam Abdul Khayoum sahib gave liberal material hjelp and moral support to the Secretary t enable him to tide over the difficulties.  The new Headmaster Syed Abdul Hamid sahib completely reorganized the school.  Janab Jalal Hajee Abdul Carim sahib presided on the Annual Day of the school in 1936 and donated an extensive valuable site on which the present High School building has sprung up.  For the first time fees were collected from pupils of Forms I to VI but liberal concessions were given to the deserving ones.

In 1936 Janab Syed Yacoob sahib succeeded as Headmaster and he took a lively interest in the matters of organization as well as discipline.  In 1939 classes 4 and 5 were separated from the High school sections and tagged to the Elementary section.  There was a steep rise in the strength and the available accommodation was found inadequate.  Hon’ble the Rajah Sahib of Bobbili, Chief Minister to the Government of Madras and Mr. Saunders, the Director of Public Instruction, Madras visited the institution during the period.

The year 1939 witnessed the sad passing away of two stalwarts, Janab Maligai Abdur Rahman sahib, President of the Society for nearly three decades and Janab Jalal Hajee Abdul Carim Sahib, the first elected Secretary.  Maligai Abdur Rahman sahib’s long services and sacrifices were unique.  His powerful personality, courage and devotion had always a sobering influence on the administration.

In 1940 Janab Jalal Hajee Abdul Carim sahib, Ambur lost an eminent and illustrious benefactor whose charities and services for varied causes had been too numerous.  His love for the cause of education is amply borne out by his many endowments.

The loss of these two great personalities who were a source of inspiration and guidance were deeply felt and greatly mourned.  Their services would always be remembered with respect and gratitude.  Janab Medeekar Moulvi Mohammed Casim sahib who had all along been the Vice-President succeeded as the President.  His pious nature and sagacious wisdom helped the Society to attain its full stature.

DONATION OF 2800 BOOKS FOR LIBRARY

In 1941 Janab Mohammed Irahim sahib gave a donation of books comprising of about 2800 volumes of valuable Urdu and English books which gave further enrichment to the existing library of the school.  This year did not pass off without grief as Janab Patel Abdul Latheef sahib, Joint Secretary of the Society, breathed his last on 27-6-1941.  His passing away was an irredeemable loss to the institution.

FELICITATION TO JANAB KAKA MOHAMMED ISLAIL SAHIB

In 1945 Government conferred the title of Khan Bahadur on Janab Kaka Mohamed Ismail sahib, one of the Vice-Presidents and a Trustee of the Scoeity.  To facilitate him on the conferment of this honour, a public meeting was convened at the school premises under the Presidentship of Janab Abdul Khayoom sahib, the District Educational Officer, Vellore.  It was a notable occasion and to the vigorous appeal made to the public, they responded by promising donations for constructing a new building for the school estimated at over Rs. 2 lakhs.
